Since the German brand's speed silo was born at the beginning of the century, we had a disruptive boot. The concept was a pure speed boot, but offering completely new sensations and technologies. We saw a mix of materials, interchangeable soles, and even ultra-light boots weighing less than 100 grams per unit to provide the fastest players on the field with the best support.
Adidas Football Boots
The return of the Adidas F50 marks the comeback of the pure and unadulterated speed silo to the German brand, bringing us an ultra-technological boot with the best support and all the legacy that the F50 name implies. Nostalgia and performance unite to deliver the best and fastest.
So, what does Adidas bring us in 2024? The truth is that the boot is completely new and quite different from what we had in Adidas X. We start with an upper made of a material called Sprintweb and Fibertouch, which is a braided thread somewhat reminiscent of what we saw with Speedflow, forming a soft yet grippy upper. The boot comes in two versions: one with laces and one without.
This upper doesn’t come alone, as the laced version features an internal mesh that adapts to our foot, providing the necessary fit of an all-in-one boot while offering the openness and capacity of an open-tongue boot. Wide feet are also accommodated in these new Adidas F50s.
The laceless version, on the other hand, comes with a Primeknit fit similar to what we’ve seen in other boots from the German brand, again closely resembling what we had with those Speedflows, offering an exceptional fit.
The touch it provides is very responsive. You can feel the grip layer of the upper, not as much as with Predator, but there is definitely touch. We come to a key point in this boot: the sole. The sole is a reinterpretation of what we’ve seen in recent years, but with clear changes in both stud distribution and design.
We have semi-conical and laminated studs on a new plate called Sprint Frame 360. The laminated studs are at the front, providing extreme grip when stepping, while the semi-conical studs on the sides give us that rotational point for lateral movements. It might not be as aggressive as past generations, but it still provides the grip and push characteristic of a speed boot sole.
So, are these boots good? Friends, the new Adidas F50 are very good, and in my opinion, they greatly improve upon what we had in the last generations. A lightweight boot (approximately 180 grams) with touch, fit, and all the latest technological advancements from the German brand, they are a combo that we are sure will make a big impact in the Euro Cup and Copa America. For now, they are available in the first limited edition with the classic chameleon color reminiscent of those iconic adizero worn by Leo Messi, but soon we will have more colors and new features. Simply a bombshell.
