Energy Mode is the name with which adidas has named its football boot pack for the 2018 Russia World Cup. This is a pack with generational leaps, going from historic references to past models to vibrant and flashy colors for the Predator, X, Nemeziz and Copa football boots.
adidas Predator, the control boot
At first sight we can appreciate that there is no change for this adidas Predator football boot in terms of technical characteristics and it’s normal since it’s been in the market for barely 6 months but those who know about Predator’s history will have already noticed that there is some background behind this fluorescent yellow colorway.
They’re a wink to the iconic 1998 Predator Accelerator, the first adidas football boot that appeared in an aggressive color, not white nor black, as it was usual then. At that time, it was sold as a limited edition and today it’s considered one of the most difficult models to find by collectionists.
Today, the adidas Predator is a modernised boot with an upper made in Primeknit and a 3D relief, a sock that makes this football boot a mid/top tier, BOOST technology in the insole for impact absorption and a plate with an aggressive sole as well as studs with ridges. These are the boots that will be spotted in the feet of such big names as Paul Pogba, Koke or Rakitic in Russia.
This was adidas’ greatest surprise, a boot that reminds us quite much of the iconic F50 adizero.
The new adidas X18 boots bring in the essence of the popular F50 adizero because of the placement of the three stripes that also appeared in the 2013 F50 model. However, the main difference in this new model are the latest adidas technologies and, as it is usual now with the German brand, they’re laceless!
It has an upper with Skeletalwave synthetic microfiber, thinner and lighter than that of the past generation. The outer heel counter presents the new Speedframe plate, this time more reactive than the X17 and with triangle studs placed on the metatarsal bone area to provide more traction during the most demanding actions.
adidas Nemeziz 18, the agility boot
The protagonist of the 2017 collection has received a generational leap that could be easily classified as a re-styling, something similar to what happened with the X16 and X17, although with the Nemeziz there is a detail that catches our attention since the first minute: the new sock.
It’s higher in the inner lateral and it doesn’t only achieve a better fit than its predecessor but it also manages to get rid of one of the past model’s inconveniences, the tendon seam, so it won’t produce any irritations or blisters with this higher new profile.
The Agilitybandage technology is still the differentiating element of this silo, entirely wrapping the foot arch. The Agilityknit of the toe cap has also been modified by a synthetic microfiber that is slightly more padded. The sole remains the same.
It’s a pity to say that this model won’t appear in the foot of the World Cup players given that adidas has decided to keep it out of the spotlight even though it’s possibly the most daring colorway that we have ever seen up to the moment in the Copa silo.
The characteristics are the same, these adidas football boots stand out for their unrivaled comfort, for their fantastic touch and their excellent fit thanks to the introduction of modern materials such as the Techfit heel counter and a top-quality sole, identical to that of the adidas Ace 16+’s top tier from 2 years ago.
The new Energy Mode Pack by adidas is now available at Futbol Emotion in all tiers.
