I am a football boot enthusiast, so I love checking out the boots worn by former football players when they play in legends matches because during those matches you can see the true preferences players have when they are not forced to wear a specific model and you can also see the models they kept when they were active players.
The Legends Classic Match was recently played between Real Madrid and Ajax which is why I have decided to bring you this post where I do a recap of of the boots and players that have surprised me the most during charity matches and I will classify them into 3 groups that I think, represent all players: the ones that keep their boots because they like the, those who will always wear leather, and the ones that wear whatever is given to them.
1. The ones who keep their boots
Santiago Solari adidas Predator Powerswerve y F50 Spyder
During his stage at Real Madrid he used to play with the Predator boot but when the F50 collection came up he decided to switch. As we can see in both photos he still has great admisation for both models.
Emilio Butragueño Joma Águila
Every time I see the “Buitre” (Vulture) playing he always wears Joma Aguila or Toledo, black leather boots designed with a classic tongue. One of the most classic boots.
Luis Figo Nike Total 90 Laser III and IV
The Portuguese player played almost his entire career wearing the Total 90 model ever since the Air Zoom Total 90 was launched in the year 2000 until he retired.
2. Those who will always wear leather.
Fernando Redondo adidas Copa Mundial
It may not surprise many of you since Fernando Redondo played almost his entire career with leather boots and the model he wore the most was the Copa Mundial.
Clarence Seedorf adidas Adipure IV
I have seen him wear the adipure line ever since it came out and he must like them a lot because he still wears the while model since he played for AC Milan back in 2011.
Steve McManaman adidas Copa Mundial
Another one of those who are seen wearing the Copa once they finish the contract with his brand. We are talking about a model of boot that has not changed in decades.
3. Those who play with whatever is given to them
Michel Salgado adidas X15.1 / NitroCharge 1.0 / Adipure Crazylight
After wearing Umbro during most of his career it seems like Michel Salgado does not really care about the boots he wears because we see him wearing a different model in every match.
Roberto Carlos umbro, nike, mizuno, adidas
I have been the Brazilian player wearing umbro, nike, mizuno and adidas throughout his career. It seems like the boots did not play a big role in taking shots over 100 km/h
Raúl adidas ACE 15.1 Primeknit / Predator mania / Predator Letal Zones
The eternal captain has worn leather and synthetic Predator models and now he has surprised me wearing the adidas ACE Primeknit.
El eterno capitán ha pasado por los modelos de piel de Predator, los sintéticos y ahora me ha sorprendido con el modelo de Primeknit de las adidas ACE
