Is it fine to use cut socks?

Cut socks: how to wear them, why or what alternatives we have. All this and more in this post.

First of all, we would like to clarify that this choice is entirely personal and under the responsibility of the person doing it, as the stockings as such are intended and ready to function as a whole, without being cut. By doing so, we definitely affect their durability and fit.

Why cut the socks?

The fact is that we have been seeing for many years how professional football players cut their socks (in reality, probably their team's players), in order to use another type of sock as their main sock. This started to be seen especially after the launch of football socks with Grip technologies, such as SP grip socks, Nike Grip socks, or Trusox socks to name a few. These socks increase the grip with the boot and above all, they help to avoid unnecessary movements of the foot inside the boot, fixing it to the base in a sensational way.

This means that we have to cut out the ankle part of our match sock and then fix it with tape of the same colour, so that the difference is not visible and also helps to fix our shin guard. With this method we get to use a technical sock, which in addition to giving us more grip, will help to have less chafing and blisters on our feet while we practice our favourite sport.

Is it necessary nowadays?

Nowadays we have a lot of options to satisfy our needs, as we have options of long socks with grip, from many brands, which we can see in our football socks section. We can also see the improvement in the insoles which also include Grip technology, where the one used by Nike stands out, which is complemented with Nike Grip socks, reinforcing even more this concept of stability and perfect adjustment of the boot to the foot.

Also related to this, we have another product developed directly for these situations such as the Nike Strike Leg football socks, the adidas team Sleeves, which are already cut and sewn at the corners, thus preventing the sock from tearing or fraying too much and allowing us to make our sock much longer or shorter as we like.

Conclusion

Cut socks are a valid alternative to be able to use our favourite technical socks in compliance with the regulations, as long as they are exactly the same colour as the match socks.  Nowadays we have different options, such as long socks with grip, so that we don't have to cut our socks, or even the options of Sleeves, or socks that come directly cut, so that we don't have to use too much tape. Luckily, all these products are available at Fútbol Emotion, and will allow us to choose the option that best suits us. What is your style of wearing socks?
