Problem with loose or long boots

We'll be going over a problem that we usually have when our boots feel too big. Here are some tricks to solve your problem - or at least minimise it.

First of all, we must acknowledge that this is perhaps one of the biggest problems we can bump into when it comes to equipment, and that once again the best solution is to choose the right size from the very first moment, depending on the boot, the brand and above all, our foot.

What do I do if my boots feel too loose?

One of the quickest and easiest solutions is to use two pairs of socks, usually a thin inner sock and then the match sock. This double layer will allow us to enlarge our foot by a few millimetres and therefore fit better in the football boot.

However, if the distance is greater and we have missed by more than half a size, the second sock will have to be especially thick, for which football socks with grip are the best option. Within the different brands, trusox or G48 football socks provide versions with extra material, the so called ‘cushion’. These socks are considerably thicker and therefore help us gain almost half a centimetre in thickness. This, together with an inner sock and the grip elements, will ensure that our foot fits well in the wider or larger boot without any problem, with the only drawback of losing the internal function of the grip, as our foot is not in contact with the gel plates.

'Fixes' to Avoid

Surely, a teammate will tell you about filling the boot's tip with cotton or strongly tightening the shoelaces. The truth is that these are not recommended solutions, as the cotton will end up moving all over your feet and if we tighten the laces too much, we will weaken the eyelets and probably end up breaking the football boot from that side.

If width is the biggest problem is the width, the best alternative is to change the laces. We have thicker shoelaces that, together with a good sock, will help us avoid tightening the laces so much that our foot does not even move inside the football boot.

In conclusion: if we have size problems, the best thing to do is to try on the boot and get the right size. Luckily for you, at Futbolemotion we have size change and also many physical shops around Europe so you can try on all the models you like. However, if you still made a mistake regarding boot size, we hope these little tricks will help you solve the issue.
