Throughout the history of the European Championship there have been a number of great goalscorers and today we are going to look at some of those illustrious names and how they rank in the table.
As the distribution of goals is a little strange, we will start talking about fourth place and above, as there are up to 6 players who have 6 goals in all their appearances.
There are names like Henry, Lukaku, Ibrahimovic, Kluivert, Nuno Gomes and Spain's Alvaro Morata.
And we reach the podium with Antoine Griezmann and Shearer in third place, with six goals in Euro 2016 and one in the last edition, which ended unexpectedly for Les Bleus.
On the English side we have the Euro 1996 exhibition with 5 goals in a single issue.
We continue in second place with another French player who is none other than Michel Platini who got his 9 goals in the Euro 1984 where they were also proclaimed champions with France, elegance and goal for the second place.
Finally, we have the all-time top scorer in all European Championships, none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, with 14 goals, a figure that is sure to rise in his next appearance and which speaks volumes about the Portuguese forward's quality.
The goals come from the Portuguese's first appearance in 2004, when he scored two, the 2008 edition, three more in 2012 and 2018, and five in the most recent edition.
We are sure that they will extend in the next edition further increasing the goals record, always with a Nike Mercurial on their feet. One detail I would also like to mention is that if we add the goals from the qualifying rounds to this total, the top scorer would still be Cristiano Ronaldo with a whopping 41 goals. ‘El bicho’ is on top.
And so far this is the review of the top scorers in the history of the Euro, where Cristiano Ronaldo shines with his own light.
