Top 5. Historical Reusch gloves

The Reusche World Keeper are now available so it's a good moment to make a recap on the Top 5 historical gloves from the German brand, Reusch.

It's very hard to find 5 models in such a huge historical catalog, so what I'm going to do is focus on the ones the German brand launched during my sports career, the gloves that have been in the market since 1994 (my first Reusch) till 2003 (last glove with the arrow).

5th POSITION. Reusch VB special for Vitor Baía.

Victor Baia signed for FC Barcelona in 1996 and was the first super popular goalkeeper to arrive to La Liga. He is most reminded for his special looks and his impossible flying than for his performance. But what really impressed me was his Reusch that would use his initials to create the arrow: The VB perfectly placed in the backhand and the FB Barcelona colors in the fingers. This model is now for collectors.

4th POSITION. Reusch Aquakeeper

First thing that impressed me was to see players like Cesar Lainez with a blue arrow. Later we would find the info on their catalogue (at this moment the internet was a big mysterious for me) and I found that this was a glove with a special palm for wet conditions. It was the first time I heard about it.

3rd POSITION. Reusch Soccer Team 1994

My first contact with Reusch gloves, it was actually my first top end model glove. It was a revolution for me. A glove that would allow you to block in dry and wet conditions and that took me lots of allowance months to be able to pay. The store assistant was very surprised to see a 13 year old kid with tons of coins to pay.

2nd POSITION. Reusch World Keeper 1998

The gloves with which Andoni Zubizarreta would retire from professional football. I'm aware that his last sporting years where not the best. Maybe he shouldn't have extended so much his retire. But he was a reference for me in the goal, my motivation and the keeper that gave me a personal style. These gloves where the most popular gloves in the 1998 France World Cup.

1st POSITION. Reusch Pro Arrow 1996

The best, without a doubt. Who can't remember the gloves from the Reusch goalkeepers in the 1996 EURO? My obsesion with white gloves started that July of 1996. Victor Baía , Andreas Koëpke, Petr Kouba, Andoni Zubizarreta among other made this model extremely popular.

If you are a nostalgic of the 90' Reusch gloves, remember the retro edition is available... not for too long.
